TAKEOVER is a non-profit 100+ page art zine project organized by artist Serena Cole. It was created during the context of the misogynist and xenophobic 2016 presidential campaign of Donald Trump and in response to a conintuous lack of recognition for young female and gender non-binary artists by contemporary galleries, museums, and art critics. The issue is a means of showcasing outstanding contemporary artwork by female and genderqueer artists, as well as an opportunity to foster important conversations about what it means to be a female or non-binary person today. TAKEOVER features artwork and thoughts by 36 artists and 1 curator working from a wide range of locations such as London,UK; New York City, NY; Portland, OR; Minneapolis, MN; Los Angeles, CA; San Francisco, CA; and Beaumont, TX.

All proceeds from the sale of the publication go towards printing artist copies, creating exposure for these artists by sending copies to gallerists and curators, and shipping costs for an upcoming exhibition in San Francisco.
